Yesterday, I was taken to a very "50's" type of soda Shoppe in
Coconut Grove. Many people know of Coconut Grove, Florida as a hip, cool place
to visit. But, there is the old Grove, which is very hippie-like and very
laid back...hidden in amongst all the glitz and high style of the Grove which
people read about and visit. Similarly, the people who live in the Grove are
separated in the same way. There are the "in" people living in lavish
homes, and there are the real Grove people who have lived in the Grove since
the early days, or newcomers like my friends who have lived in the Grove for
9 years. Their home is situated in a very woody street with lots of beautiful
oak trees and vegetation. For a person like me...it is my dream home. From
their patio, I can feed the many birds...even parrots and macaws, which come
to visit from nearby Parrot Jungle. I have sunbathed and swam nude, and as
you Americans say, skinny dipped in their pool. Their home and their lifestyle
are in tune with nature.
